Terms of business

Last updated: 24 September 2026. The plain-English rules we both work to. Your written quote always comes first: if it says something different, the quote wins.

Who we are

Hanbrook Studio is a web design and AI agent studio run by Alex, a sole trader based in Leicester, UK. You can reach us at hello@hanbrookstudio.co.uk or on 07585 877533.

Quotes and what's included

• Every project starts with a written quote setting out what we'll build, the price and a rough timeline.
• Quotes are valid for 30 days.
• Anything not in the quote (extra pages, new features, a different direction) is new work. We'll always tell you the price and get your OK before starting it.

Payments

• Your quote says what you pay and when. Unless it says otherwise, we take 50% before work starts and the rest before the site goes live.
• Invoices are due within 14 days.
• Monthly plans (like hosting and care, or an AI agent's running costs) are billed monthly in advance.

Tweaks and sign-off

• Unlimited tweaks until you love it: we keep refining the design and content we agreed in the quote until you're happy to sign it off.
• Tweaks cover the agreed pages and features. Brand-new pages or features are new work (see above).
• If we don't hear from you for 30 days while waiting on feedback or content, we may pause the project and pick it back up when you're ready.

Your content

You're responsible for making sure anything you send us (text, photos, logos) is yours to use, or that you have permission. We can't check this for you.

Who owns what

• Once you've paid in full, your website's design and content belong to you.
• We keep the right to reuse our general code, tools and know-how on other projects. None of your content or branding is ever reused.
• Unless you ask us not to, we may show your finished site in our portfolio.

Hosting and care

• Hosting and care is optional. You can also host the site yourself.
• You can cancel a monthly plan at any time with 30 days' notice. We'll help you move your site elsewhere.
• We rely on trusted providers (like Cloudflare and Supabase). We work hard to keep things running but can't promise 100% uptime.

AI agents

• Your agent does the jobs we agree in writing. Anything that spends money or contacts your customers waits for your approval unless you tell us otherwise.
• AI can make mistakes, so please check anything important before you approve it.
• Agents depend on outside services (for example your suppliers' websites, email or messaging apps). If one of those changes or goes down, we'll fix the agent as quickly as we reasonably can.

Cancelling

• You can cancel a project at any time by emailing us. You pay for the work done up to that point, and we hand over everything finished so far.
• If you're buying as a consumer (not a business), you also have 14 days from agreeing to the quote to cancel for any reason. If you asked us to start within those 14 days, you pay for the work done so far.

Our responsibility to you

• We'll do the work with reasonable care and skill.
• If something goes wrong, our total responsibility is limited to what you paid us for that project (or, for monthly plans, the last 12 months of fees).
• We're not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing here limits your legal rights as a consumer, or our responsibility for anything the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Complaints and the law

If you're unhappy, email us first and we'll do our best to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
